“I love the creative process: solving problems in order to create something attractive that will give someone a reason to smile.”John T. Benedict

A lifetime of making

Some Distant World is the creative vision of John T. Benedict, a lifelong artist whose love of making began early. Born in Dallas, Texas, in 1962, he has spent decades working across mediums, and today he lives in Tucson, Arizona, where he makes original metal artwork for collectors, businesses and public spaces.

Before the steel there was everything else, and all of it is still in the work.

Metal, and the world beyond it

Over time John found his true medium in metal: sculpture, wall art, chess sets, steampunk creatures and large installations. He finds inspiration in nature, human emotion, and a deep sense that there is more to this world than what we see.

His work stands in collections across the United States and internationally, including Taiwan, and has been published in American Art Collector.
